Classical Net has detailed information on the repetoire of classical Western Art music from the medieval period to modern.  Biographies of key composers during each of these periods are presented, along with recommended recordings that are representative of each.  There are also chronological lists of composers, links to lists of their works, as well as reviews and articles.

GarageBand is free software on the Macintosh operating system that help you learn the basics of piano and guitar.  You can also use it to record, mix and edit audio tracks.  Apple’s website has tutorials to help you.

This software is not available to PC users.
