PBS Newshour offers educators of students in grades 7-12 with lesson plans tied to current events in the news. The lessons cover all subject areas, as well as media literacy. Each video story is supported by a plan with content-based standards, discussion questions, student activities, vocabulary and primary references.

Teachers Network has thousands of classroom-tested, readily-available lesson plans and full curriculum units developed for teachers, by teachers. Virtual Science Courseware Project
From site: The Virtual Courseware Project offers interactive, online simulations for inquiry-based science, the life science laboratory, geology labs, and biology labs. The biology labs are designed for advanced high school and college students. The other interactive virtual labs can be used by students ranging from middle school, high school, or college classrooms. These activities are designed to enhance an existing curriculum and include online assessments. Free registration is required to access the courseware.
Smithsonian Learning Lab
The Smithsonian Learning Lab offers innovative digital resources for K-12 teachers and students for non-traditional lessons. Access one of the existing collections on a topic, such as “Civil War lesson”, and you will find collections accompanied by lesson plans or activities. You will have to switch to “list view” to see descriptions of the lessons.) Or create your own lessons by incorporating resources from the digital collection of the Smithsonian Institution.
