Poetry for Tough Guys

From the author:  I invite you to pay a visit to www.poetryfortoughguys.blogspot.com to be transported to a world where the bully gets the wedgie, and the term “tough guy” is redefined. Young boys from 7 to 14 can’t get enough of the irreverent poetry and fun trivia.

Each visit leaves them feeling confident they just got away with something, and slightly aware that they also may have learned a thing or two. A Canadian boy’s school is currently using the site with their poetry curriculum.

When I’m not writing as the Toughest Guy in The World, I’m teaching math and reading at an all boys’ school in Maryland. The photo is of me, and you can’t get away with wearing an outfit like that without being a tough guy!

Poetry Lessons

Poetryclass training team of poets offers some poetry lesson plans for students of all ages.

From site:

The Poetry Society has a long and successful history of education work. We find that working with poetry is not only a creative end in itself but also a powerful tool for raising standards in literacy and developing language skills.  It frequently releases untapped potential amongst students who are not confident in traditional narrative or essay writing.  It also offers exciting challenges to targeted groups of students and through subject areas across the curriculum.
