This clearinghouse offers four types of free digital images for teachers and students – clipart, photographs, presentation & websites themes, and maps . Each category has its limitations on how many images may be downloaded or used in a project. Refer to the site for details. Many images comes with a choice of image size and format as well as complete source information for proper citations. The site is ad-free.
- ClipPix ETC – a collection of hundreds of pictures and images, cataloged by subject area. Images are in JPG format, in small, medium, large, and original TIFF (very large file size).
- ClipArt ETC – a collection of more than 71,000 clip art, cataloged by subject area. All images are black and white GIF format, in small, medium and large sizes. (Use right click to save image unless you want to purchase a license for commercial use.)
- Presentations ETC – backgrounds, templates, letters, frames, and buttons for school presentations, websites, newsletters, digital scrapbooking, and student portfolios. The collection includes backgrounds, Powerpoint and keynote templates, buttons, letters and numbers, paper people, and photo frames. Images are in a variety of sizes and a range of GIF, JPEG, or PNG formats.
- Maps ETC – over 5,000 historic maps from many different time periods. All maps are available in GIF, JPEG, and PDF formats for screen display and for printing.
