Accounting Basics for Students is a free online source ofbasic accounting lessons, questions, tutorials and information. We cover basic accounting concepts and transactions, debits and credits, financial reports andother specialized basic accounting topics such as accounting for inventory, depreciation, etc. The lessons on this site are very simple and follow logically. They are intended for beginner students in the subject, whether at high school or college level.

From site: Welcome to this web-based accounting tutorial. This tutorial was initiated as part of the Technology Advantage Program in West Virginia. That program focused on the innovative uses of technology in the support of higher education. The tutorial is being expanded and maintained by the original author with the support of West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV and West Virginia University Institute of Technology, Montgomery, WV... The designed features and content of this tutorial represent an initial effort to produce an aid to learning the basics of bookkeeping and accounting. The tutorial contains learning modules that are designed to look and work the same. Our goal is to have simple-to-use, fast-loading pages that produce results - not excitement with "bells and whistles". The basic design of each module is:

It is not meant to be a substitute for your textbook. It is a "work in progress" and will be edited, and added to, on an ongoing basis. I only cover textbook chapters used in my online accounting classes; other chapters have been omitted, although they contain valuable information.
